数値シミュレーションの数理モデルおよび数値解析手法について,具体的な問題を取り上げながら基礎から応用まで講義する.また,融合分野における最近の研究動向についても解説する.

Course plan or Lecture plan

The main objective of CFD class is to help you learn the numerical model and methodology of numerical simulation. The class covers from the basic to advanced method with actual example problems. Also the trend of recent computational mechanics is introduced in this class.
At the first half of term, the theories of numerical methods based on FDM and FEM are explained about accuracy and numerical stability of the method. And high performance computing technique to get the fast solution is also explained.
And at the last half, recent actual applications in the engineering field are introduced. Especially, thermal fluid analysis and simulation of natural disaster are focused.

1.Models and discretization, partial differential equation and analytical solution.   
2.Finite difference equation and scheme.   
3.Systems of linear equations   
4.Parallel computing   
5.Finite difference method (MAC method, etc.)   
6.Basics of finite element method.   
7.Stabilized finite element method I (Advection equation)   
8.Stabilized finite element method II (Incompressible viscous flow)   
9.Application I (turbulence flow, thermal flow, multiphase flow)   
10.Application II (damage estimation simulation of natural disaster)   

Expected Level of Mastery

Understand the characteristics of numerical method, and assess an appropriateness of the solution.

Evaluation

Evaluated by reports and drills.

Prerequisite

Required the knowledge of fluid dynamics, thermal mechanics and mathematics about partial differential equation.
