Course Overview

This course is designed for students who received Education and Research Challenge Grants. Students create research proposals, report research results, and present the results of their research. Students are expected to acquire leadership, management, and presentation skills.

Remarks

Only students of the PhD program in Empowerment Informatics are allowed to register.

Course Objectives

・Students will develop the basic skills of proposal writing and execution, and writing reports for other grants, for example Grants-in-Aid for Scientific Research. Students will develop leadership, management and presentation abilities through the execution of a research project with trial and error.

Course Schedule

・At the beginning of this course, I will hold a session to explain requirements, schedule and presentation delivery.
・Students can create research projects individually or as a group
・Students craft an Exploratory Research Plan based on their research project selections. We will review these plans and expect students to revise them according to our feedback.
・After explaining correct grant usage, students execute their plans, manage plan budgets and create a Research Grant Usage Report to explain how they used the budget.
・Students write a Research Result Report and present their research results at the Research Result Presentation Event.

Graduating Methods and Criteria

I will assess students based on Exploratory Research Plan, Usage Report and Research Result Report submissions, and the presentation in class.
