Course Overview

自然災害・人為災害による都市域の被害を軽減する方策について、計画論を理解するとともに、具体的計画課題を対象に、地理情報システムや各種統計ソフトを用いた定量的分析および政策評価の手法を修得する。具体的には,教員が設定する「都市リスクに関するデータと社会的課題」を各学生に割り当て、学生は担当週までに分析手法を自ら学び、チュートリアル形式で解説する資料を作成し、当該週に他の学生に教示する.聴講する学生は実際にチュートリアルで作業することで,開設する学生は「他者に教える」ことでより深いアクティブ・ラーニングとなることを意図している.分析手法としては、SPSSやMS Excel等による統計解析、GIS、MS Access等によるデータ分析を予定している。

Course Objectives(Learning Outcomes)

This course focuses on various risk assessment to reduce risks in urban area due to the natural/technological disasters, threats including fire and human-made accidents. The goal of the course is to master the method of evaluation and analysis of the urban risks based on urban planning. Students will be assigned in working groups. Each working group will be required to complete a Risk Assessment Proposal using Geographic Information System (GIS) and related databases. Specific objectives are as follows:
1) Students should acquire how to use GIS for specific areas with some regional codes.
2) Students should understand the methodologies to reduce urban risks.

Course Prerequisites

Advanced Urban Risk Management, Risk Communication are the bases of this course.

Grading Philosophy

On the basis of the scores of reports of seminars and end-of-them examination. The ratio of the reports and the examination is 1:4. The passing grade is 60 point.

Grades will be based on class participation and the group proposal (80%) and individual paper (20%). *Students should participate all of the seminars.

If a student belonging to the Master's Program in Risk Engineering take the course of "Urban and Regional Analysis" in next Related Courses, he/she has to register 01CF305 as the course number instead of 01CN204 written in the next table.
