授業概要

This is an introductory course for students who are eager to improve their English discussion skills. Because this is an introductory course, students are given the opportunity to learn and practice effective delivery of their ideas and attentive listening to others’ opinions as a preparation for discussion. Discussion topics will be related to global issues, and students are expected to actively participate.

備考

国際総合学類生のうち、2020年度入学者については別途クラス分けを指示する。2019年度以前入学者は学籍番号奇数番の学生に限定。履修者上限30名。BC51541を履修済みの学生は履修できない。
英語で授業。

講義及び演習

学位プログラム・コンピテンスとの関係

1) General-propose competence: communicative ability, critical and creative thinking skills, broad perspective and internationalism, collaborative, independent & autonomous skills.
2) Special competence: ability of logical expression on international relations, ability of logical expression on international development.

授業の到達目標(学修成果)

The course has three objectives: 1) develop an ability to deliver your own ideas effectively; 2) develop listening and comprehension skills to understand different opinions and ideas; and 3) develop discussion skills through an understanding of English discussion conventions.

履修条件

There is no prerequisite. However, students are expected to participate actively in class.

成績評価方法

Grades will be based on: class participation, 30%; mid-term speech contest, 30%; final presentation (term paper), 40%.

Students are expected to come to every class.
This class will be conducted face-to-face with occasional online classes.
Please note that the number of students for this class is strictly managed this year in order to avoid health risks. Because the number has reached to the limit, the class registration was closed on 9 September. Those who wish to take English Discussion Seminar this year, please consider to take English Discussion Seminar (B) or (C) .
